Ghanian actress Emelia Brobbey has been caught in a different type of spotlight these past few days. The actress was allegedly caught shoplifting from a UK store and though she has tried to explain her account of the event, Emelia and her publicist can’t seem to agree on the explanation and have given two very different stories.
Emelia’s story: She picked up the bracelet because she intended to buy it, but when she got to the cash register could not find the item. It wasn’t until the security alarm sounded that she realized it was still in her possession.
In an attempt to put the accusations to rest her God-father, Kwesi Nyamekye of Miracle Films, came to her defense with a different account.
Nayamekye’s story: She had absolutely no idea how the bracelet was in her possession and Nayamekye said perhaps Emelia’s baby stroller grabbed the bracelet without her knowing.
The police visited Emelia’s house to take a statement, but it was noted that the actress paid for her goods with cash.
Of course we’re not insinuating she did it, after all innocent until proven guilty. I can recall a time of being so overwhelmed while shopping that I walked out of a store holding pants still on the hanger – luckily no sensor went off and I was able to dip back into the store and return them without anyone noticing. With that said, mistakes happen and in the moment you can become distracted, maybe this is was the case.
